Everytime when I travel, I listen to the same songs. I need maybe only 2-3 songs during whole trip which usually lasts 1 to 3 months. So here is one of my favorite songs "Minimissing 7" by Erast.
By the way, I went to see an exhibition of Andreas Gursky at the modern art museum in Stockholm.
It was a kind of retrospective, and I could see even his early works which has never been shown.
They were quite nice, but I didn't feel anything special from his works, especially from new works.
I can't explain well, but I guess my interest towards photography has definitely changed.
Recently I'm more interested in "snap-shot" type photographs. I know it's already done for a long time ago, such as Frank, Winogrand and Shore's early work. I love the momental pictures, because they seem to keep the joy of photography. Now it is seen in some photographers' work like: JH Engstrom, Colly Brown etc. I try to let "Photography" free.
At the same time, in Stockholm I went to see a new gallery called GunGalley, where I could see Anders Petersen's new work. The title is "City Diary". He was invited by some cities in europe, and he made photographs during when he stayed there, around 3 months. Then I felt that he was anyway faced to that reality without any pre-judgement. That's why even though the pictures are quite provokative and brutal, but also there is so delicate view and the feeling of "touch" in his life.
He is taking pictures as he is touching. This diary is especially so great when it's seen as a portrait. I admire his work.
And also, I had a very nice meeting in Goethe Institut in Stockholm.
A german video artist Sebastian Stumpf shows his wonderful works. The videos seem to float in between stillness and movement, so it's not just a framing, or movement.
Of course it seems like a documentary of his performance. But when I see his videos carefully,
you can feel the incredible way of using the time. Every kind of movenent is delicately filmed and I thought this was exactly in the one of "Differance" thing by Derrida.
After 2 weeks of nice days in Sweden, I moved to Estonia for doing a supervisor job for an art
student from an art school in Tartu. I talked to her and brought back what we discussed at a cafe.
Now I'm thinking how I can develop teh idea to the visible work.
By the way, I can't stop thinking about Tino Sehgal. I'm photographer, but his work is maybe the one which I wanted to do or so. And this kind of missing feeling remains me a lot of what exsisted. I hope I can find such kind of things in my works.
So in Tartu, I realized again how that girl is important to my work (life). She is my Muse.
